For my drawings I found out that this project was harder than I thought. I thought that I would be easier to draw on objects and various things. But it was actually hard, like if the paper gets bent, if you rip it etc. This all happened except the ripping part to me.

I would have liked to have done painting, melting crayons, or clay. I would have liked to have tried painting because that is one thing that I'm really good at and enjoy! I would've likes to do melting crayons because I've never done it before and I think that it would be fun to try. I would have like to do clay because like painting its something I enjoy.

Process #1:
So my process that I'm attempting is to gather a bunch of different textured things and put my drawing over them and color in where I would like the color to be and then try and end up with different designs on the crayon.

Process #2:
I'm going colored pencils and just normally draw.

KONY 2012

  1. Summarize the documentary KONY 2012 in one paragraph. What is it about? (one paragraph)

The KONY 2012 video is about Joseph Kony, and what he does. Joseph Kony Has been kidnapping children using the girls as sex slaves, and the boys to make and army. He makes the army so he can say that he has power (and he doesn’t want to loose that). But he uses the boy armies to kill people, and right before he kidnaps them makes them kill their own parents. He’s been in these actions for 25 years, and still no one has decided to take action. This is what the video is about. This guy is raising awareness to people, and if enough people care and try to support it our country will help the kids in Uganda to live strong, healthy, and free lives.

2. Why did the filmmaker choose to make this film? What does he hope to achieve? What is his specific goal and what is his strategy for making it happen? (1-2 paragraphs)

His goal is for the kids in Uganda to be free and be able to sleep happily at night, and for them to just be kids. His plan is to have the Ugandan military find him, in order to find him they need the technology and training to track him in the vast jungle, that where the american advisors come in, but in order for them to be there, but the US government has to deploy them, they've done that, but if the government doesn't believe that people really care about arresting Kony, the mission will be canceled, in order for the people to care they have to know, and they will only know if Kony's name is everywhere.

3. What is your personal opinion on the strategy he is using to raise awareness? Is it effective? At some point, people get tired of seeing "the same old posts" about an issue. Some of you have already asked the question "what's the point of this video?" What is the point? Even if you're personally tired of seeing links and posts about it, do you think there is value in saturating the media like the film proposes? What would you do different? (1-2 paragraphs)

I think that this idea is fantastic, I don't think that I could've come up with anything better, and yes it is effective, and if people do start to get annoyed they'll just have to do something about it. The point of the video is to tell people about Joseph Kony and have arrested, and like the plan said, everyone has to know about it and care. And for them to know they have to see the signs, posts, etc. Yes I do think that there is value is saturating the media, I don't know what I would do different I just love the idea of setting up signs, posters, stickers, etc, everywhere for the world to see. I don'y necessarily think that I would do anything differently.

4. What do you think about about the idea of making a "bad person a celebrity?" Are there any negatives to this approach? (one paragraph)

I like the idea of making Joseph Kont famous, I think that he's becoming famous for being a criminal, because most people don't know about Joseph. I don't that this is a bad idea at all, I think that he needs to become know in the US so that Jason plan can go through. People who have a heart I know will care about this cause and when people do find out about it then the people who do care will try and take action and say they care and we can proceed with the plan to get Joseph Kony arrested.

5. What is the difference between raising awareness and between a call to action?

I think that raising awareness means that someone is telling you about something to make you aware of it. It just like ok now what. But a call to action to me means that you care about the thing that the person made you aware of the cause, and if it hit your heart then you will take the call to action. You will take the call to take action on helping the cause and try to help and save the invisible children.

6. What is an issue you feel strongly about - strongly enough that you would want to not only raise awareness, but call people to action? Be specific - in other words, don't just choose a topic like 'eliminate world hunger.' It doesn't have to be a global issue, but it should be a specific, definable one where you are proposing a specific solution. What is a specific way to focus on that topic? Ask yourself the following questions:

What is the issue?
Where is it?
Who are the people affected?
Why should people care about this issue?
What can people like you do to solve the problem; to help? What specifically can people do?
How could you use the media to call attention to the issue? How can you get people's attention?

  • Issue: is kids having aids pandemic
  • Where is it: Swaziland Africa
  • Who are the people affected: Kids, adults, elders, basically everyone in is Swaziland. People die at a young age, the age at begin considered old is at 32, and it rare to live that long. And it comes mostly often comes from sexual contact and blood transfusions or open wounds. Its not rare to get Aids in Swaziland.
  • What can people like you do to solve the problem; to help? What specifically people do: Be abstinent, Spread info and resources to the poor and unformed, give money, food, clothes, and knowledge.
  • How could you use the media to call attention to the issue? How can you get people's attention?: I could post things on Facebook, Friend and let others know about the Heart for Africa page, email people, send pictures. Talk to them, call them, explain to them what is happening, Show them pictures, maybe even take them to Africa.

Sermon

So my topics were Losses and Heart. And I’m going to start with Losses.

So I see God in Losses like when you have lost a love one you can be confused, angry, sad, feeling alone, and just almost like god was trying to hurt you. For me when I loose someone I’m angry and sad and such but He helps me understand and work through it and help me just feel better. Sometimes people just think with god about it. But Grieving and crying does help. To me it brings healing.

Heart. In Hearts I see god working in it and wanting you to open your heart up to let jesus into your heart and life. Also like when you heart is hurting if you have let him in then he can just mend it and put the pieces back together. I also see god working in heart relationships, like with my parents if one of their hearts are hurting I might see them just hugging on the couch or talking. And god is working in them in many ways, just like everyone else.

Explanation for Sermon.

Losses:

So for this I want to capture images that show how people are grieving, and oddly this is one of my favorite things to capture. I hope to capture images that have people crying and I want to get some close ups of tears, and come Long shots of people just sitting alone. I think that god Shows up in losses in your tears, in a healing way. In your tears god heals you, like one of our pastors says grieve until your done. And I think healing come out of that. But I think topic is a good one for me because I think that I could possibly to a pretty great job on capturing these moments. Not to be cocky or anything. I really just want to get pictures of people being sad because they actually lost something they loved. I might take a picture of a picture. Like the pictures people put up when they want to remember their loss. And I don’t want to make some one cry for one of the images I want to capture real sadness, or anger about their loss. I want it to be real. I also hope to Some images in the day time and light, and also so dim or late at night.

Heart:

For this topic I think that god shows up in your heart in a caring way. As in if you caring for someone god is in your heart. And you also you have to open that little door to your heart because Jesus is knocking.
